I have done some recording in the past with audio interfaces and the sound quality has been meh. I didn't think I could get a real deal recording sound for less than the price of my car (+ or - 3k). I went to the g center to get an upgraded interface and a mixer and the audio tech said there was a few options and that they are all not too shabby for sound quality. Out on a limb I suggested a USB mixer and the guy lit up like a christmas tree and directed me over to the mixers. He basically said this is what you want.
